Concurrent Registration Released (1UControl 5.0.12 and up)

We have created a new version of 1UControl that works in Concurrent mode. This allows a registration server (A Separate program) to be running on the local schools network that holds xx amount of licenses and 1ucontrol registers via the Registration Server at startup. The 1URegistration Server simply registers once with our web server once to get the amount of licenses for the system. The 1URegistration server MUST be running on a PC on their system for any local 1UControl's to work in this mode. This system eliminates local PC Registration issues with regards to the motherboard hardware numbers.
This version 5.0.12 is now released and will solve many company's registration problems. This System is only for the new version of 1UControl 5.0.12 and up and is not compatible with 1UControl version 4.0.10

Concurrent Registration license backup:

The Concurrent system holds all registration info in a database named Registrations.mdb in the same folder as the 1URegServer.exe file.
The license info in the database is password protected and cant be changed unless you have the password.
If need to back up your licenses copy the Registrations.mdb file off to a safe place and restore it to keep your registrations intact without the need to re-register.

Adding more concurrent licenses:
If you need more licenses contact 1UControl and more licenses can be issued and you will simply reregister and the additional licenses will be updated in your system.

To turn on Concurrent registration mode (1UControl Version 5.0.12 and up):
Go to the system parameters and set the parameter Use concurrent registration mode to TRUE and restart the software.
Or from the Main-Screen, go to the Help-menu and select "Change Registration Mode" option and select the desired mode of registration.

Problem: 1Ucontrol not registering with the Concurrent Server even though the Server is running (Concurrent Registration Mode Only)

1UControl will try to connect to the server at startup for registration, if no connection is made within the default of 5 seconds, the registration will fail. This 5 second timeout time seems to be a problem for slower networks and is causing 1U to fail to register with the Concurrent Server or causes intermittent registration failures. Networks speed up and slow down all day long, you may need to increase your registration_Timeout setting in the registry.

To Solve this problem:

1) Upgrade your exe to version 5.0.14  by downloading this file Downloads\Installs\1UControl_Ver5014.zip and unzip the 1ucontrol.exe file and replace your existing 1ucontrol.exe file. *Close 1UControl first if its running.

Next Increase the Registration_Timeout:

2) Close 1UControl
3) Open regedit and edit the registry under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\1UControl\Registration_Timeout" and set it to 10 or 15 seconds or a value that works reliably.
4) Restart 1UControl

The Registration_Timeout sets the time 1UControl waits for a response from the Concurrent-Registration Server before timing out.
Setting the "Registration_Timeout" should solve your problem.

Problem: 1UControl not registering with the Concurrent Server in Multicast Mode:

Concurrent Registration can be switched to normal TCP mode if Multicast wont work on your network.
Un-install 1UControl and your 1URegserver programs and reinstall then with 1UControl Ver. 5.0.17 and 1URegServer Ver. 1.03.
You will need to set The 1URegServers IP address and the Concurrent Registration Method to TCP in 1UControl's System parameters Restart both software programs.
OR
To simply upgrade your existing system use the following instructions:
Upgrade Instructions:

Replace your old 1ucontrol.exe and your 1URegServer.exe with the following upgrade Versions:

1UControl 5.017 / 1URegServer 1.0.3

 Instructions:

 1UControl: Version 5.0.17

Paste the following 3 lines into the "Registration" Section of the ProgConfig.ini file in the data folder. Remember to Set the TCP_RegistrationServer_IP=Your Regservers IP. 3 parameters have been added to the Concurrent Registration Settings as follows:

RegistrationMode=TCP or Multicast (Set this to TCP to enable the new feature)

TCP_RegServer_IP=Set this item to the IP of the PC that holds the 1URegServer program.

TCP_RegServer_Port=1006 (Default) you can change this but both 1U and the RegServer settings must match. (See the regservers network setup tab also)

Note! all these parameters can be set from the system settings tab but you need to add them manually at this point of upgrade, the install program will handle them on a full install.

 1URegserver: Version 1.0.3

 1) Open the C:\Program files\1URegserver\1URegServer.ini file and add the following line:

    TCP_Port=1006

The Server now operates simultaneously in multicast and TCP and can handle registrations from either. Displays have been added to the gui for the TCP channels, also TCP settings have been added.

If TCP communications come in they will show up on the TCP side of the GUI.

Problem: 1UControl Registration Problems (Non-Concurrent Mode [All Versions]):

1UControl's non-concurrent registration is (Tied to the Motherboard it was registered on). If you clone a drive with 1U and put it on another machine you will need to clear the old registration key and re-register the software.

How to clear the 1UControl Registration Key: (Non-Concurrent Mode)

Open windows explorer:

1) Delete the file named "C:\Program Files\1UControl\Data\amx.axr".

2) Do a search for any files on the PC named "amx.axr" and delete them if found. ( some older versions of 1Ucontrol placed the amx.axr file in the windows or system32 folder)

note! Deleting the axr file will give you another fully functional demo period and time to re-register your software.

3) Call or email us to reset your registrations for the qty you need to re-register. You must supply the "License ID" you used to originally register so we may reset it.

4) Open 1UControl and re-register the program. This will tie your registration key to the new PC.

Information:

When backing-up or cloning a system you should copy the entire 1UControl/Data folder. This folder holds all settings for the software and as long as the motherboard doesn't change you will be able to push it back on the end users pc.

IF you push a Data folder to a different machine with a new motherboard you will need to follow the above instructions and re-register the program to that motherboard.

Problem: 1UControl Help not working:

Cause: Program installation Error.

Solution: Download the Help system zip file to your Program files/1ucontrol folder and restart 1UControl and press F1 or goto the About>Help menu on the main screen to open it. 1UControl_Help.zip You may also download and reinstall the latest 1UControl program to fix this problem.

Problem: 429 ActiveX error
Cause: The DAO Database Engine did not register properly on the Install.
Solution: Manually register the DLL into the registry.

1) Open Explorer and go to:
C:/program files>Common files Microsoft Shared>DAO >DAO350.dll

2) Right click on the DAO350.dll and open with Regsver32. *Special Note for Vista:
check run all users XP2.

Problem: 1UControl not connecting to 1UAdmin on the network

Set the "AdminIP" address in the (Administrator Settings parameter) of the Local 1UControl Software and restart the software.
This IP-Value must be the IP Address that the Administrator Software resides on.

Note: for the Client System to be enabled for the Administrator System the "Enable Admin" Parameter must also be set to TRUE.

Problem: 1UAdmin can't see a Client on the network

Check the Following:

1) Check Your Router/Switch can pass Multicast packets on IP 239.255.250.251 Port 9132
2) Check The TTL setting is at least 64 in the Progconfig.ini file
3) Check the IP's of the 1U-Client systems for ip duplication or conflicts
4) Check that the 1UClient.exe Server is running in the processes on the Clients PC
4) Check that each room setup (Profile) has a different "Room Name" ...

If you set up 2 rooms with the same Building name and the same Room Name the Administrator program will not see them ... All Systems may have the same Building Name but not the same room name. Also if you change a room-name the software must be re-started to take effect.

1UControl uses the Following IP and port for Admin to 1UClient communications:
Multicast IP = 239.255.250.251
Multicast Port = 9132

Problem: 1UControl locks-up when opening the System-Admin Properties Tab:

This problem is caused by using 800x600 screen resolution, 1UControl must be run at 1024x768 or higher screen resolution. Change your screen resolution and restart the software.
